St: John's Orthodox Valiyapally Ulanadu

On a bright morning in October 1902 A.D., a group of God fearing people of Ulanadu Prayer Group assembled for a divine cause. They had the blessings of Pulikkottil Joseph Mar Dionysius V, the Malankara Metropolitan who was the supreme head of st. thomas christians in India. This was the beginning of our church. Our forefathers worked together to make a place for worship in the plot suggested by St. Gregorios of Parumala, who was the Metropolitan of Thumpamon Diocese. Thus spirit of unity handed over to generations through decades.

Nilackal is one of the prominant churches established by St. Thomas, the apostle of India. Nilackal christians migrated to different places of kerala. Our fore fathers from Kadambanad become parishioners in the Thumpamon Thekkekara Valiya pally and when Kadistha Church was founded in thumpamon Vadakkekara, They joined there in brother hood under the banner “Ulanadu Prayer Group�?. Hence forth, they bifurcated from the “ Kadistha Church�? and obtained sanction to found a church in the name of St. John, The Baptist on Third November 1902 (18th thulam 1078 M.E). The church in the name of St. John the Baptist was reconstructed twice.
